Since 1996, the ACE Mentor Program of Greater New York has awarded scholarships to college bound seniors who participate in the ACE program and meet specific criteria.   The ultimate goal of the program is to support students who intend to pursue careers in the design and construction industry.

In 2013, ACE awarded $200,000 in scholarships sponsored by mentoring firms and other ACE supporters to 84 seniors.  Since the program’s inception, ACE NY has awarded almost two million in scholarships to 915 program graduates.  ACE students are also considered for scholarships from other sources, including a special scholarship available to ACE Mentor students who have applied to Manhattan College.

Habitat of the Middle Keys builds and renovates homes in partnership with families who qualify for home ownership based on three criteria: demonstrated need; willingness to partner with HFH; and an ability to repay a no-interest mortgage. Habitat sells its houses at no profit, with no interest charged to families who must invest hundreds of hours of labor- "sweat equity" - into building their homes and the homes of others. The Humane Society of New York has been helping and defending animals in need since 1904.For over 100 years, the Humane Society of New York has been a presence in New York City, caring for animals in need when illness, injury or homelessness strikes. In 1904 we were founded to protect the city's horses against abuse. Members fought for laws to punish negligent owners and place watering troughs in streets and parks. As funds allowed the Society expanded to include a free medical clinic and a small adoption center for cats and dogs. Today our hospital and our Vladimir Horowitz and Wanda Toscanini Horowitz Adoption Center help more than 38,000 dogs and cats annually, and their numbers continue to grow. At the Society, the quality of each animal's life is paramount. Long before it was popular to think of animals as individuals - to consider their physical and emotional needs when taking responsibility for their care - we were doing just that. That means every day, every dog gets exercise time in the rooftop run, and the chance to walk outdoors with staff and volunteers. Cats enjoy daily play sessions outside their kennels. This very personal care is fully as important to a pet's well being as the inoculations, spay/neuter and other veterinary care provided during its stay in the adoption center. MISSION STATEMENT: On July 6, 2002, Russell Ferber tragically died in a car accident at the age of 21, just as he was about to graduate with a degree in Baking and Pastry Arts from The Culinary Institute of America (CIA) in Hyde Park, NY. A year later, The Russell Ferber Foundation was founded to provide a living legacy – funding programs that assist young people who lack the financial resources to successfully follow a path that parallels aspects of Russell’s too short life. To date, the Foundation has focused on three beneficiaries:

• C-CAP, Careers through Culinary Arts Program (C-CAP): The Foundation has established The Russell Ferber Memorial Scholarship through C-CAP, a non-profit organization which has created professional culinary education programs in inner-city high schools.
• Culinary Institute of America (CIA): The Foundation provides an annual contribution to a Russell Ferber Endowed Scholarship directly at the CIA. A portion of this fund is accumulating to become a permanent endowed scholarship, while another portion provides annual stipends to students who complete their externship obligations with the highest rating for professionalism, a quality very much respected by Russell, and the hallmark of his approach to culinary activities.
• Village Community School (VCS): Village Community School, Russell’s wondrous K-8 school, was unable to provide the support needed for students like Russell with distinct learning disabilities. VCS' Russell Ferber Memorial Fund has been an important resource in helping students with learning differences in their struggle to succeed, funding educational and psychological evaluations, language therapy, outside tutoring, additional part-time teacher work and support in confronting the language and writing skills needed to transition to high school. A number of students have been helped immeasurably by the Fund.
